Workshop for State Officials: Bringing the Benefits of Solar to Low- and Moderate-Income Residents

June 14, 2017

9:00am — 5:00pm ET

Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Training Center
777 North Capitol Street NE, Suite 300
Washington, D.C.

The Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA) is offering a special opportunity for state officials to participate in a full-day workshop on low- and moderate-income (LMI) solar. The workshop will be held in Washington, D.C. on June 14th, and is only open to state employees. Workshop attendees who request travel support will receive reimbursement covering most or all of their travel and hotel costs.

The workshop will examine the challenges states face in promoting LMI solar and will highlight ideas for overcoming those challenges. Participants will engage leading experts and peers from across the country in discussions on such topics as financing, using community solar to advance solar for LMI households, LMI solar+storage as a strategy to reduce lifecycle costs, and harnessing existing poverty and housing programs for solar. The workshop will help state officials identify and plan appropriate strategies for LMI solar for their particular state.

Read an agenda here.

State employees from any state are welcome to apply to attend the workshop. We encourage small teams of two to four people to apply. A team can include officials from different agencies within a state or representatives of municipalities or NGOs with which the state proposes to work. However, each individual must apply individually. Please submit completed applications by close of business on Friday, March 10th. Applications submitted after March 10th will be reviewed, but only on a rolling basis until the workshop has been filled.

This workshop is being conducted through CESA’s Sustainable Solar Education Project, which provides information and educational resources to state and municipal officials on strategies to ensure distributed solar electricity remains consumer friendly and accessible for LMI households. The Sustainable Solar Education Project is managed by CESA and is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative’s Solar Training and Education for Professionals program.
